The All New Adventures Of Us - Firetruck
The All New Adventures Of Us - Firetruck
It's simple to see why so many UK bloggers have drawn comparisons between The All New Adventures Of Us and Canada's Arcade Fire. Both share a penchant for lush nu-folk instrumentation, enjoy liberally sprinkling their songs with harmonies and horns and have band members seemingly coming out their ears. But that's where the similarities end. For where Arcade Fire instead press on with an epic All-American sound TANAOU instead opt for the twee undertones of Gallic pop favourites like The Delgados, Belle & Sebastian and - most pertinently - Bella Union's My Latest Novel.

'Firetruck' is subsequently quite a smart little taster single from their forthcoming debut album 'Best Loved Goodnight Tales'. Vocals are intimate and big on emotional vulnerability, the melody is light, breezy and full of spirit whilst - in the background - brass parps gently away with pleasing goodwill. The lyricism is also mightily impressive. For ones so young, they exhibit a knack for a romantic imagery and melancholic retrospection that pegs them pretty damn close to Murray Lightburn and The Dears. More of this for the album please, gang?

'The all New Adventures Of Us' is released on29th September through One Little Indian.
